Map Items are Items which appear only in racing maps, can be picked up and used in these maps, but do not transfer to character's inventory and disappear at the end of the race.

Map Items further divide to Capsule Items which appear and are used in item races, and to Other Map Items which are specific for individual maps.

Capsule Items[]

Capsule Items appear in maps in form of Item Capsules, if the race is set with Items ON and the map supports items. By default, an Item Capsule has a form of a half-transparent globe containing a question mark symbol; other forms of Item Capsules are used on various occasions. Item Capsules are located at several fixed positions in the map, either sitting at their position, or jumping around on a short fixed track.

An Item Capsule can be picked up by a player character by running over it. After being picked up, the capsule disappears for a short while, but a new capsule is spawned at original place several seconds later.

After picking up an Item Capsule, a bubble appears over the character's head and the symbol of the particular item the character obtained is displayed in it in a few seconds. The bubble stays there until the character either uses it by pressing the Item key, until the character gets transformed to a different form by the Transformer item, or until the character finishes the race. Running over another Item Capsule while having an active item removes the capsule, but does not change the active item.

The item obtained by the character depends on the character position, and on the race type (individual/team). Also effects of items may be different on individual and team races.

There are three types of Capsule Items - powerups, traps, and missiles.


Powerups[]

Powerups are items helping the character or its team members. Their effect is applied instantly when they are used.

Dash Potion[]

Dash Potion Icon

Increases the character speed to maximum for a short time.

Airbag[]

Airbag Icon

Protects the character from items used to attack it or from effects caused by collisions with environment traps. Disappears after 7 seconds or after an attack is covered.

Team Airbag[]

Team Airbag Icon

Protects all team (each character individually) from item attacks or from effects of collisions with environment traps. This item is only used in team races.

Boots of Speed[]

Boots of Speed Icon

Increases the character speed to maximum speed until either it reaches other characters, or collides with an item or environment trap. This item is given only to the last character in a race.


Traps[]

Traps are laid on the track in the place where they are used and take action when another character collides with them. When a character is hit by a trap it gets certain amount of Rage and the character which laid the trap gets small amount of Dash.

Spring Trap[]

Appearance: Semitransparent circle with spring symbol on it lying on the track.
Effect: Kicks the character backwards.

Bucket Mask[]

Bucket Mask Icon
Appearance: Bucket jumping randomly on the track
Effect: Covers the character's head for a short period of time, blocking the player's sight.

Beehive[]

Bee Hive Icon
Appearance: A beehive jumping randomly on the track
Effect: Affected character loses control for a short period of time.

Transformer[]

Transformer Icon
Appearance: Spawns a transforming cloud on the track for a short while. Affects any characters entering it except the character which used it.
Effect: Characters are transformed into different animals for a short period of time. Possible transforms are fish, turtle, rabbit, or lizard. Each animal has a different running speed and cannot jump.

Shark[]

Shark Trap Icon
Appearance: A shark circling in the place. Does not disappear when a character gets hit by it so it can affect multiple characters.
Effect: Hit character gets a stomp status for a short period of time.
Note: This item only appears in Frog Prince (Easy) and Frog Prince (Normal) maps.

Missiles[]

Missiles are items which, on use, spawn a missile targeted at some or all characters ahead of the user. When a character is hit by a missile it gets certain amount of Rage and the character which sent the missile gets small amount of Dash.

Chicken[]

Chicken Icon
Target: Nearest character ahead
Effect: A chicken following the character. When the target is hit, it explodes and knocks down the target and all nearby characters except the user.

Jump Stopper[]

Jump Stopper Icon
Target: Nearest character ahead
Effect: A plate that hovers right above the character's head, blocking it from jumping. Lasts a short period of time, can be removed sooner by repeatedly jumping into it.

Papa Octopus[]

Daddy Octopus Icon
Target: First character. In team games, first character of opposite team.
Effect: Flying orange octopus. When it reaches the target, it zaps it and creates a large electric cloud zapping all characters running into it. User is immune.
Note: After zapping its target, a small orange octopus item falls on the ground. Picking it up adds a little Dash to the Dash gauge.

Mommy Octopus[]

Mommy Octopus Icon
Target: First character. In team games, first character of opposite team.
Effect: Flying octopus with electric effect around it, zapping all characters it touches on the way. When it reaches the target, it zaps it and creates a large electric cloud zapping all characters running into it. User is immune.
Note: After zapping its target, a small pink octopus item falls on the ground. Picking it up adds a little Dash to the Dash gauge.

Pumpkin Ghost[]

Pumpkin Ghost Icon
Target: All characters ahead
Effect: A bunch of pumpkin ghosts, one for each character ahead of the user. When the character is hit, it is slowed down significantly for a short period of time.
Note: This item does not appear in team races.

Red Pumpkin Ghost[]

Other Map Items[]

Other Map Items are various map-specific items used only in one or a few maps.

Golden Ball[]

Golden Ball Icon

Golden Ball only appears in the last part of Frog Prince (Easy) and Frog Prince (Normal) maps. Each character needs to pick up one piece and deliver it to a princess NPC at the finish. Reaching the NPC without this item does not let the character goal. When hit by Capsule Items, map obstacles or other characters, the character drops the item and must pick it up again. The item belonging to the character is marked by an arrow symbol and can not be picked up by any other character.

Rice Cake[]

This item appears only in Sun and Moon 1 (Easy) and Sun and Moon 1 (Normal) maps. It is not contained in an item capsule, it uses its own model instead. Also, this item appears in these maps even if Items are turned off. Its usage is to release the character from lock after running into a Tiger. When the character is not blocked by Tiger the item adds about 15% to Dash gauge.

The Rice Cake item can be stacked, i.e. the character can hold multiple of them. Number of items held is indicated by a number next to the item icon in the item bubble. By pressing the Item key, only one is used. It is not possible to combine it with Capsule items, a character can hold either a number of Rice Cakes or a single Capsule Item. Getting 100 Rice Cakes at once is one of Achievements.

Jewels[]

Red Jewel
Blue Jewel
Yellow Jewel

Jewels appear only in Ali Baba map. They cannot be used in any way, only picked up by players in the starting room, when dropped from bandits or from other players after collision with obstacles, items or another players. At the end of the race jewels define TR bonus the player receives.
